About me


My name is Mian Hu (胡勉). I am a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr. Seyyed-Abdolhamid Mirhosseini and Dr. Anna Mendoza at the Faculty of Education, University of Hong Kong.

I received an MA in TESOL from King’s College London in 2016, and a BA in International Politics from Beijing International Studies University in 2014. I was an EAP lecturer at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (2017 - 2021) and Suzhou Global Institute (2016 - 2017).

My current research focuses on the following topics:

  • Ethnographic studies
  • Sociolinguistics
